What does motorcycle insurance cover?
Motorcycle insurance was designed to protect your bike…and you.
A standard motorcycle policy will typically cover:
- Bodily injury liability coverage – Covers medical expenses and lost wages for the other drivers if you’re at fault during an accident and an injury or death occurs.
- Property damage liability coverage – Helps cover the cost of repairs or replacements if you’re at fault for damage to another person's property.
Many riders choose to add coverage that will boost protection for themselves, their bikes and their passengers. These coverages may include:
- Collision coverage – If you collide with another object, like a car, motorcycle, tree or building, any damage to your motorcycle is covered.
- Comprehensive coverage – Covers damages to your motorcycle not caused by a crash with another vehicle or other object, like flooding, wind, vandalism and theft.
- Rental reimbursement coverage – Helps cover the cost of a rental if your bike is stolen or being repaired in a shop due to a covered loss.
- Optional or added equipment coverage – Allstate policies automatically come with $1,000 worth of coverage on upgrades or added equipment. A higher limit option is available up to $30,000 that includes additional enhancements or equipment made to your motorcycle.
